FUDENBERG H UMAN ANTIBODIES to human gamma globulins are generally detected by agglutination of red cells coated with IgG, most often in the form of incomplete anti-Rh antiserum;’ normal and myeloma IgG proteins coated by bisdiazotized benzidine and chrornic chloride have also been used.2” These passive hernagglutination methods are applied to genetic typing of human immunoglobulins.14 Human anti-IgA antibodies are detected by passive hemagglutination using IgA paraproteins.5 This paper presents for the first time a detailed serologic system for the detection and characterization of anti-IgA antibodies in human sera. A dichotomy of two types of serologic specificities was observed: a) the class specific (reacting with all IgA coats) detected only in the sera of persons lacking IgA and, b) limited specificity (reacting with one or two of the IgA coats) detected in sera of persons with normal levels of IgA. Immunochemical studies suggest that most of these antibodies are of the IgG class. Preliminary evidence indicated the clinical significance of anti-IgA antibodies because of their association with anaphylactoid and urticarial transfusion reactions.6’7 Further evidence supporting this association is presented here. The frequency of anti-IgA antibodies in other clinical conditions related to blood transfusion is

متن کاملThe Diagnostic Value of Serum IgG-Antigliadin, IgA Anti-endomysial and IgA Anti-tissue Transglutaminase Antibodies for Pediatric Celiac Disease
Background and Objective: Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder, characterized by inflammation, villous atrophy, and crypt hyperplasia of the small bowel mucosa. In this study we considered and compared sensitivity and specificity of serological tests in patients with celiac disease. Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study we prospectively recruited children with suspected c...
متن کاملAnti-Endomysial and Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase Serological Test Compared with Small Bowel Biopsy in the Diagnosis of Celiac Disease
Abstract Background and Objective: Celiac is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by an immune-system-related damage in the intestinal tissue after consumption of gluten. There is not any general agreement for gold standard. The Purpose of this study was the evaluation of specificity and sensitivity of anti-endomysial (EMA) and anti-tissue transglutaminase (TTG) serological test compa...
متن کاملAssociation between Anti-IgA Antibody and Development of Adverse Reactions in Immunodeficient Patients Under Immunoglobulin Therapy
Background: Mild to severe post-transfusion adverse reactions have been reported in a proportion of immunodeficient patients receiving intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg). Anti-IgA antibody has been proposed to be associated with development of such reactions. Objective: To assess the association between anti-IgA levels of different isotypes and adverse reactions induced in immunodeficient patien...
متن کاملهمراهی بیماری سلیاک با اسکلروز متعدد
Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) and the gluten intolerance disease, celiac disease, (CD) are immune-mediated diseases. Better testing for antibodies associated with CD, including anti-gliadin antibody [AGA], as well as anti-endomysial and anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies, has improved the diagnosis of CD. Certain neurologic conditions have a reported association with CD. Previous res...
